*Additional requirements from our handbook state: “Membership to Highway 58 Volunteer Fire Department shall be open to all residents within the boundaries of the fire district, neighboring districts, and its contracted areas regardless of sex, race, color, or creed, being of good moral character, physically able, never convicted of a felony, a United States citizen, and between the ages of 18 and 70. Interviews for candidates will be conducted on a quarterly basis. A physical by a licensed physician may be required of candidates, stating that in their opinion, the applicant is physically capable of fire company duty. The physical fee is eligible for reimbursement following successful completion of all required training of an active firefighter. The membership candidate will be assigned to the appropriate fire station based on their primary residence proximity to the station.”
